At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, during lockdown, Peter Mutabazi and his son Anthony received a call they never expected.
“Would you be willing to take in a 7-year-old boy during quarantine?”
It was Peter’s social worker and despite the odds of receiving a placement or a request to be the backup for another foster family, that’s exactly when the call came in.
The boy spent the rest of the year in Peter’s home until the time came for him to move on 10-months later..
“It’s not easy but I understand what I signed up for. I signed up to be a foster parent. A foster parent is not to take away the kids but to be there while the parents are taking care of themselves.”
Watch as Peter takes him and his sisters home.
